Ducky is a mechanical keyboard brand well-known to hobbyists for its frequent collaborations resulting in stylish boards. The company’s latest creation is with Bethesda, celebrating the long history of the original boomer shooter, Doom. The 65 percent board is black with blood-red accents, naturally, but it’s the PBT keycaps that are the showstopper. They’re completely covered in an image of the Doomslayer doin’ what he does best, giving a whole lot of demons a hell of a bad day.
The keyboard is a spruced-up version of the Ducky One 3 SF, which features a unique double-layered case, N-key rollover for gamers, integrated silicone and foam dampening, hot-swappable switches, and RGB lighting. But if you set those lights to anything except “hellfire red,” you’re doing it wrong.
Ducky
This is hardly the first board themed after a single game — in fact Ducky made one for Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG series Fallout back in November — but that somewhat ridiculous full-width print certainly makes it stand out. Those caps are dye-sublimated plastic, by the way, which means that your greasy fingers will never wear away the image. The keycaps won’t be made available anywhere else.
Ducky
Ducky is only making a thematically appropriate 666 pieces of the DOOM Edition One 3 SF, split between ANSI and ISO layouts, with your limited edition production number emblazoned on the engraved plate on the case bottom. It’s currently in stock for $149 at MechanicalKeyboards.com, with your choice of Cherry MX Red, Blue, Brown, Silent Red, and Silver switches. Speaking as PCWorld’s resident keyboard nut, I gotta say, that’s a pretty decent price for a limited-edition keyboard like this.
